Tour de Fleece Day 20

I haven't had much time to spin this week. Today I finished the spool of angora. I'm short of my ambitious goal to spin all the angora I have harvested since October. But I learned a lot working with this fiber.

I also went into my deep fiber stash and found some alpaca, merino, silk blend roving.

As roving

Spun single (color is off due to indoor lighting):

Stage 14 Tour de Fleece

Some spinning going on, finished an ounce of angora over the past 2 days. 2 more oz. to go until one bunny harvest is completely spun to singles.

I also removed some commercial yarn from beet and onion skin juice solar dye experiment. It is drying lighter than it was when wet and will most likely continue to lighten with each washing and exposure to light.

Color when first put out. It turned a most ugly shade of brown.
Finished yarn drying

Day 10 Tour de Fleece

Was able to squeeze in a bicycle ride between rain showers. It was a little hilly and road conditions felt like cobbles, but finished strong on the 10 mile flat home.

Still spinning angora...maybe I should have started with a box from the smaller rabbit.

Tour de Fleece day 9

Hot day today!  Started with a 40 miles bicycle ride. Let the spice girls hop & dig in the grass.

Spun the whole container of fluff that I combed yesterday and combed enough to refill the container for tomorrow

Hills for the cyclists on the tour. A nice 27mile ride in the Litchfield hills for me and some fiber fun.
Washed the gray alpaca/angora blend

Started to spin 100% angora from my bunnies

Used my hand combs to prepare fiber fr tomorrow.

Then an evening with my bunnies

Tour de Fleece day 3

Riders had a very challenging day that required much patience and my time at the wheel was no different.

I was cruising along and found I had a lot of singles left on just one bobbin. So I tried a center pull ball. It was near disaster, but I finished plying the alpaca/angora blend!
